The government has disbursed Ksh.881 million under the Inua Jamii program to provide financial relief for orphans and vulnerable children across the country. The move is part of the state’s ongoing commitment to cushioning marginalized groups and improving social protection.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection confirmed that the funds have already been wired to beneficiaries’ accounts. Each eligible household will receive a cash transfer meant to ease the burden of basic needs such as food, clothing, and education.
Cabinet Secretary for Labour, Florence Bore, said the payment underscores the government’s pledge to safeguard the welfare of children in difficult circumstances. She stressed that no child should be denied access to basic needs due to poverty or neglect.
According to the ministry, the money will benefit thousands of households currently registered under the program. The initiative targets orphans, vulnerable children, elderly citizens, and persons with severe disabilities who rely heavily on government support.

The disbursement comes at a time when many families are struggling with the rising cost of living. Officials say the transfer will play a key role in reducing economic pressure on households and ensuring that children in vulnerable situations are not left behind.
Inua Jamii remains one of the country’s flagship cash transfer programs, designed to break the cycle of poverty by empowering marginalized families. Authorities have urged beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly, prioritizing essential needs and long-term well-being of the children.
The government further revealed that plans are underway to expand the program’s reach, with efforts being made to ensure that more eligible families are included. This will involve updating beneficiary data and improving transparency in the disbursement process.
